Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What do we do on the eval?

A: My evaluation process takes anywhere from 30-60 minutes. During this time we go over any areas of concern you have and pelvic dysfunction you have. I ask multiple questions to learn about you as a person. During the evaluation we then discuss the plan of care and set up goals. We set up billing and go over cancellation/no show policies. I leave time for questions or concerns. This is a time to become comfortable in the treatment space and with me as your pelvic floor therapist.

Q: Do you do a vaginal assessment:

A: I can, but only with consent. I typically do not assess the pelvic floor muscles at evaluation bc I find most people are not ready nor comfortable. This process can be deferred, however can be one of the most important and impactful skills we use for treatment. You may come alone or bring a support person if you wish. This is your opportunity for improvements and I will support in any way I can. I do not use stir ups nor a speculum.

Q: What made you become a pelvic floor therapist?:

A: I chose to specialize in pelvic floor therapy bc I too had pelvic floor dysfunction after my second child and again after my 3rd. I believe this population deserves the highest quality of care in a supportive and safe environment. I treated myself and I know this type of therapy works. I teach the skills you need to help manage symptoms for years to come. You may have a regression or flare and need to follow up, or you can go back to what you've learned and reduce symptoms at home.

Q: How long do sessions last?:

A: Sessions typically last 45-60 minutes w/ one on one patient care. I typically see patients 1-2 time per week or every other week. Plans are customized to you and your needs/lifestyle. Most people start seeing results almost immediately and ready for discharge after 5 visits, other folks need 12 visits, and some folks need 3-6 months of therapy.

Q: Do you treat pregnant patients?:

A: Yes
